Full Description

Sunny Bank Farm oozes character and retains many original features, yet has been extensively refurbished to provide all modern comforts without losing any of the charm. Three of the bedrooms (double, twin and triple) have en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers (or shower over bath), and the other three (double, twin and single) share 2 additional shower rooms.
The main lounge has an open fire, comfy sofas and lovely views of the garden and the bird feeders. The kitchen is amply equipped to cater for healthy appetites and the large dining table seats 12 in comfort. With double-glazing and central heating throughout, the house is cosy whatever the weather outside.
An adjoining games barn (extra charge) offers table tennis, pool, table football and darts and provides ample secure storage for fishing gear. We have a rowing boat and Canadian canoe to hire, or you can bring your own.
With a rod licence you can fish in the lake – recent catches include brown trout, perch and pike. You have 300 metres of private lake shore, or take the rowing boat out to the middle of the lake. This part of the lake is amazingly quiet and peaceful; morning and early evening you will probably have it and the amazing scenery all to yourself. For a little adventure row across to ‘Wild Cat Island’ (of Swallows and Amazons fame) – it’s well worth it.
There’s plenty of parking and free wifi. Travel-cot and high chair also provided.

Historical Connection

Although much extended and renovated, parts of the building date from the 17th century; there are thick stone walls and exposed oak beams, and the old bread oven is still visible in the thickness of the wall.
