Fully restored and offering well-presented accommodation, the cottage provides an ideal country retreat for those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy the sights and sounds of the countryside in a beautiful peaceful setting. Upper Teesdale has been part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for over 25 years and an European Geopark for ten years. As such, it offers a wonderful base for those interested in wildlife, geology, fishing or wild flowers, as well as for walkers and cyclists. Enjoy a quiet drink on the patio overlooking it all !

The cottage sleeps 3 people. With central heating throughout it provides:
* Two bedrooms: 1 x super king-size double (zip/link, can be twin on request at time of booking) and 1 x single
* A ground floor shower room with shower, basin and WC.
* An open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with additional electric fire.
* An external utility room with washing machine and shared access to a tumble dryer and freezer.

Teesdale lies in the southwest corner of the stunningly beautiful Durham Dales , just north of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. Part of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” and the UK’s first “European and Global Geopark”, it includes some of the highest, wildest and finest scenery in England. Visitors can relax in this peaceful and unspoilt area of rare geology and amazing flora and fauna. A network of excellent footpaths, including the nationally renowned Pennine Way and the Teesdale Way provide easy access to some of the country’s most spectacular sights such as High Force and Cauldron Snout waterfalls and High Cup Nick, whilst the quiet roads with their panoramic views make the area at ideal base for cyclists.

At the heart of the area lies the historic village of Middleton-in-Teesdale with its range of cafes, pubs and shops, whilst ten miles away is the market town of Barnard Castle dominated by its famous castle and offering a full range of facilities along its cobbled streets.

If its is culture or history that you are looking for there are museums, such as the world famous Bowes Museum, The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope and the National Railway Museum at Shildon, country houses such as the medieval Raby Castle and the Palladian Rokeby Hall and even a Georgian Theatre at Richmond. Whilst a short drive gives you very easy access to the National Parks of The Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors with all their facilities.
