Full Description

Seahouse Cottage is part of a landmark property overlooking Cocklawburn beach. It is approximately 3 miles south of Bewick upon Tweed near to the village of Scremerston and is easily accessible by the mainline train network or the A1.

The cottage is part of a large converted farmhouse and its comfortable rooms make it suitable for families, a couple or groups of friends looking for a seaside break.

For fishing enthusiasts the closest fishing is from the rocks on the beach next to the house or by beach casting from Cocklawburn Beach. It is also possible to buy a permit and rent tackle from Pot-a-Doodle-Do to use their small lake well stocked with rainbow trout. If you prefer more adventure why not take the fishing boat trip from Berwick-Upon -Tweed. With the famous salmon fishing river Tweed only 3 miles away, you could be fishing a different spot every day of your holiday.

It is also a superb spot for walking, bird watching, sea fishing, cycling, diving, sea kayaking, horse riding at nearby stable as well as superb links to golf courses.

It is within easy reach of the Cheviot Hills, Holy Island of Lindesfarne, Bamburgh Castle, Farne Islands, Alnwick Castle and Gardens  and everything that this part of Northumberland and the Borders has to offer.

There are spectacular uninterrupted views of the Northumbrian coastline, including the Holy Island of Lindesfarne and Bamburgh Castle.

The cottage has 2 bedrooms. The main very spacious double bedroom looks south towards the beach and the second has 2 single beds. The bathroom is also on the first floor with a toilet, basin and over-the-bath electric shower. Extra people can be accommodated with a Z bed or sofa bed in the sitting room.

All Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels and power is included, and a cot and high chair are available on request.

On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen with Aga and separate electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave and a separate dining room with open coal fire. There is also a store room for bikes, surf boards or any outdoor kit. Heating is by electric night storage heaters but the large sitting room also has a wood burning stove within an inglenook fireplace. The sitting room has a TV, DVD player, Freeview, CD/radio and WiFi and a double sofa bed for occasional use.

Well behaved dogs are welcome with prior arrangement.

Externally there is allocated parking and a private walled yard to the rear of the cottage which is perfect for barbecues in the summer. There is a small beach adjacent to the property which due to surrounding rocks, is virtually unvisited except by the family and guests with more extensive sandy beaches to the south approximately 5 minutes walk away.
